In May, the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), celebrated a night of winning designs at Design 2001, the 21st Annual ASID Design Excellence Awards. Atlanta Magazine sponsored this exciting event, where many of the industry's crème de la crème were recognized for their design distinction.

ASID is a nonprofit professional society representing the interests of interior designers and the interior design community. The organization maintains its spot as the largest association of interior design professionals' organizations in the country. Each year, the Georgia Chapter of ASID hosts their legendary competition in the categories of Residential, Commercial, Hospitality, Health Care, Institutional, and Historic Preservation.

The venue, Buckhead's Swissotel, was chosen with great care to house the industry legends and up-and-coming talent gathered to collect their awards, honor their peers and be inspired by the evening's special keynote address from internationally acclaimed designer Karim Rashid.

Barton Guest Room
Highlands, North Carolina

"Our clients needed a warm and comfortable space to accommodate weekend guests at their mountain home. An angled wall with an awkward built-in ledge, and a stone fireplace at the far end of the room made it difficult for furniture arrangement."

GOLD AWARD

Cateechee Cabin
Hartwell, Georgia

"Our clients wanted a guest cottage for their golf course near Lake Hartwell, Ga. The decision was to transfer a tiny, non-discript house already on the property  into a functional, comfortable and interesting cabin that reflected the native, Cherokee Indian heritage of the surrounding area."
