Thanks to competitive airfares
and an easy flight from Atlanta, he and Jim manage once-a-month jaunts to the abode they named La Casa Azul
("The Blue House"). Other times, family and friends pick up the
slack. "I think there's only been one weekend that
somebody hasn't been here," Stephen says. Here's to a new
generation of South Florida memories.

Jowdy kept the sitting porch
neutral to transition between the living room and rear
courtyard. "If you're in the living room and you look out, it
almost blends away," she says.

The living room has a glamorous
"1940s-1950s Hollywood feel," Stephen says. The
hand-painted 1950s lamps came from an Atlanta flea
market.

Sheers and matchstick blinds
screen the intense light in the sitting area, once a sunporch. The graphic patterns on the sofa pillows and
ottoman are based on nautical flags.
