PLAYING IT COOL, continued

Thanks to competitive airfares and an easy
flight from Atlanta, he and Jim manage
once-a-month jaunts to the abode they
named La Casa Azul ("The Blue House").
Other times, family and friends pick up the
slack. "I think there's only been one weekend
that somebody hasn't been here," Stephen
says. Here's to a new generation of South
Florida memories.

THE END

Jowdy kept the sitting porch neutral to
transition between the living room and
rear courtyard. "If you're in the living
room and you look out, it almost blends
away," she says.

The living room has a glamorous
"1940s-1950s Hollywood feel," Stephen
says. The hand-painted 1950s lamps
came from an Atlanta flea market.

Sheers and matchstick blinds screen the
intense light in the sitting area, once a
sunporch. The graphic patterns on the
sofa pillows and ottoman are based on
nautical flags
